The #30PromptsHathSeptember Challenge

TL;DR: Write together every day of September on our Slack group for a chance to win prizes!

TL;DR Press is proud to announce our first (and hopefully, annual!) #30PromptsHathSeptember challenge.

This is a month-long challenge of writing, inspiration, and community. We invite all writers to join our Slack group, where we provide daily writing prompts. The more days you write, the more your chances of winning some sweet writing swag!

How it works:

• Every day of September, we’ll share a writing prompt in our Slack group at midnight Hawaii Time.
• The write-in is 24/7, with write-in hosts assigned for a few hours every day to offer advice, help get you out of writer’s blocks, and count up who’s participating each day (the day resets at midnight Hawaii Time).The write-in hosts are all #tldrwriters volunteers.
• Everyone who participates within each 24 hour window is counted and given one entry for a draw at the end of the month. You can have up to 30 entries if you participate every day – and (hopefully) you’ll have so much written!
• At the end of the month, we’ll celebrate the word counts and have a raffle for prizes, including a challenge-exclusive mug and stickers!

What you need to do:

• Join our Slack writing group, where the daily write-ins will take place.
• Get inspired, and write as much as you want throughout the day, until the next prompt is posted.
• That’s it! Join us and get writing as many days as you can to win prizes!

FAQs

Do I have to work on one story for the whole month?

Nope! You can work on an existing story, start a new story, write 30 different flash fiction pieces – anything you can use prompts and writing time to create, you can do!

(And we won’t require you to share what you wrote, we just want to see you participate!)

I missed September 1, can I still participate?

Yes! Join in any time before the end of September 30 to get at least one entry into the challenge.

I want to write but there’s no write-in host around. What do I do?

Check in on the #30PromptsChallenge channel in the Slack group and give a quick hello to the group! That’s all that’s necessary for you to be counted for that day. To get the most out of this challenge though, talking to other writers is highly recommended. It’s a great way to make connections, get feedback, and become part of a supportive community. To reach out, you can ask if anyone else is around using the @ here or @ channel commands, and even start an impromptu write-in yourself! If you write it, they will come.
