Joe Butler (@writelikeashark)
Where I’m from: London, UK
What I write: I tend to write dystopian/strange fiction, but I also dabble a little in Fantasy and Horror.
How I got into writing: Ever since I was little, I have had a passion for the magic of storytelling and a longing to do it myself. I still remember the positive feedback and encouragement I received from my first English teacher. Thank you Mrs Carrick!
What I do at TL;DR Press: I had the great honour of being Editor in Chief and Curator of the Redditwriters’ first anthology, TL;DR: A Redditwriters Mix Tape Vol.1. I am continuing to help the collective put out anthologies.
When I’m not writing: I am a constant reader, an occasional musician and artist, and I am an avid Gamer. I try to avoid going out as much as possible.
Social media: You can find more of my work, including a ghost story
project and audio versions of my short stories at www.writelikeashark.wordpress.com. You can also find me on twitter at @writelikeashark.
Buy my stuff: My writing has been featured in publications such as Pilcrow and Dagger, Bandit Fiction, and the Corvid Review. I also won the 2018 Six Word Story competition run by Bandit Fiction. In 2016, I published an anthology of short stories with fellow author Gareth Topping called Fear is a Mirror. I have recently finished a collection of short stories called These Days Will Not Pass, which will release in 2018. I am now hard at work on my debut novel.
David Clark (@selfpluspen)
Where I’m from: Born and raised outside of Washington, DC and Boston. In love with Portland, Oregon. Living in southwestern France. Daydreams of setting up shop in Scandinavia.
What I write: Personal lyric poetry, flash and short fiction (chiefly sci-fi or weird). With a couple sci-fi/fantasy novels in progress, and some podcast drama on the back burner.
How I got into writing: English class, 10th grade. Lonely, isolated me, in a new school, no friends yet, and a family situation I couldn’t control and couldn’t talk about. We had to write regular journal entries, and somehow, the first thing that came out for me was a poem expressing my feelings about the whole thing. And then another, and another. Pretty soon, I was reading Frost and Tennyson and Shakespeare and spitting out as much doggerel as I could! And I knew, 100% For Sure, I was going to be a writer.
What I do at TL;DR Press: Co-edited the Redditwriters Mixtape Vol. 1, and managed to get two short pieces in there, as well. Now, I’m an editor working on some of our upcoming publication projects.
When I’m not writing: Dadding, freelancing as a translator/editor. Punning.
Social media: Catch me on Twitter and Instagram as @selfpluspen.
Buy my stuff: You can check out some of my work for free at SelfPlusPen.com, and then support me on Patreon (www.patreon.com/selfpluspen) for added goodies.
Fun fact: I once touched Natalie Portman’s butt. Accidentally, I swear.
Callum Colback (@CColback)
Where I’m from: Originally Edinburgh, Scotland, but now living in Bedfordshire (UK).
What I write: Mostly short stories, although I am now working on my first full length novel. I write across all genres, however Sci-Fi & Fantasy are closest to my heart!
How I got into writing: As a child I loved writing – fan fic, short stories, even essays for school haha. The writing fell by the way side as I experimented with making music, drawing, tattoo work, however writing is the one thing I kept coming back to and now I put all my creative energy into it.
What I do at TL;DR Press: I’ve been a part of redditwriters since it’s inception (redditwriters within redditwriters within redditwriters), but in terms of the press…not a lot yet! I intend to do as much as possible, in whatever capacity is required going forward.
When I’m not writing: My day job keeps me busy, but outside of that: playing drums, gaming, sketching, theme parks, gigs, getting together with friends/family – all keeps me pretty occupied!
Social media: @CColback
Buy my stuff: My short stories can be found in: Fictive Dream, Aphelion Webzine, Grotesque Quarterly, and ExoPlanet Magazine.
Camden M. Collins (@CamdenMCollins)
Where I’m from: Originally from Camden, South Carolina. Now living the dream in Denver, CO.
What I write: I write a combination of different works. I try to finish 1 to 2 shorts per month. I am also currently working on a novella, illustrated series, and a screenplay. I mainly write horror stories, but I do dabble in some dark romance as well.
How I got into writing: When I was younger, I used to love writing and trying to draw out stories. I also had quite the affection for putting on plays.
What I do at TL;DR Press: Uh…some of this and some of that. I’m like a cruise coordinator, I make sure our activities are organized.
When I’m not writing: I live in Denver, so hiking is my favorite hobby. I also enjoy cooking, ax throwing, and horseback riding (again…I’m a southern woman in Denver).
Social media: @camdenmcollins (Twitter) I have started a blog, but unfortunately, I have not put it to good use. I’m hoping to change that soon.
Andrew Curis (@Farfelnugens)
Where I’m from: Rhode Island but I summer in R’lyeh
What I write: Novels and short stories that cross thresholds into the fantastic and bizarre. Horror, fantasy, or both. I strive to tell stories that unpack and normalize my own and my peers’ queer experiences.
How I got into writing: As a socially inept human, writing helps me communicate in a way that actually represents what I’m thinking. Also my brain has too many words in it and I need to let them loose.
What I do at TL;DR Press: I had my work published in the first tl;dr anthology and would like to take up editing for future projects.
When I’m not writing: Reading, studying topics that might interest me, and generally trying to exist without losing my mind.

Alex Hareland (@alexhareland)
Where I’m from: Oakland, California
What I write: Short stories and novellas. Most of my writing tends to be speculative fiction, ranging from science-fiction, fantasy, horror, or some strange combination of all three.
How I got into writing: I’ve been writing ever since I was a tiny kid. I’ve become more passionate about it as I’ve gotten older, but I have always loved making strange worlds and telling weird stories.
What I do at TL;DR Press: Editor and Curator
When I’m not writing: I’m also an artist and painter. I spend a lot of time fighting for affordable housing and transit-oriented development in California. Also, being a parent to a lot of adorable rats!
Social media: twitter.com/alexhareland
Sarah Linders (@VelociSarah)
Where I’m from: I moved to Kingston, Ontario in October 2017. Before that, I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
What I write: I write novels and short stories that often mix genres such as urban/rural fantasy, sci-fi, speculative, paranormal, and surreal. I especially like to write about liminal spaces, with casts of diverse characters.
How I got into writing: I’ve written since I was a kid – the first short story that I wrote outside of school assignments (that I can remember) was Neopets fanfiction when I was 10. I co-wrote my first novel at 17 during National Novel Writing Month, and have since developed my craft through many more years of NaNoWriMo, short story contests, reading a ton, and sharing my work with fellow writers. I’ve co-founded a couple of writing groups that keep me accountable and motivated along the way too!
What I do at TL;DR Press: So far I’ve designed many of the marketing material for TL;DR Press, helped put together some of the pages on our website, and set up the social media. I currently help by coordinating social media and the blog, curating the second anthology, and helping out wherever I can with the day to day operations!
When I’m not writing: I write non-fiction for my day job. I love to draw and I’m currently learning digital illustration. I try to read as often as I can, especially Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Speculative, and Literary genres. I also like board games, traveling, succulents, and dog spotting.
Social media: I’m on Twitter and Instagram!
Brad McNaughton (@BradMWriter)
Where I’m from: Adelaide, Australia
What I write: I write sci-fi, horror, comedy, detective/mystery. Usually a blend of all the above. I’ve written short stories, published a novelette, and trying to publish my time travel mystery novels, and a comedy-horror that I’d describe as “X-Files meets Don Quixote.” I blog a lot of observational comedy, breakfast cereal reviews, and other miscellaneous guff at my 15 year old web journal, bradism.com.
How I got into writing: One of my oldest memories is being about six years old, and my teacher telling me I was holding my pencil “like a spoon”, and that I would never get my pen license. The millions of words I’ve written since then are probably all motivated by trying to spite him.
What I do at TL;DR Press: I have voted on color scheme choices, provided opinions on web hosting, liked the twitter posts, and otherwise been a nodding bulldog on the dashboard of the unstoppable machine which is the core TL;DR editors and publicists. My short story, BUDS, can also be found in the first anthology, ready to make you cry.
When I’m not writing: I program and create websites, take photos, go on long walks in the hills and national parks around South Australia, spend a lot of time talking shit with my dog.
Social media: You can find me and pictures of my dog on the internet’s moshpit – Twitter – @BradMWriter. And on my journal, bradism.com
Buy my stuff: Robert can’t help but ask questions. Like, why would average, afraid of commitment himself be sent back in time anyway? What world-saving skills could an accountant from Tomorrow Technologies possibly have? Could he really have left the woman he loves behind? And what does a TV spy called Reilly, and the rapper Lil’ Jon, have to do with it all? CHASE.
Fun fact: I’m two meters tall, which makes model railways tinier to me than to the average person.
Penfold (@justpenfold)
Where I’m from: I live on the Bitter Shore of the Island in the Great Sea of Corn. Or, if you like, a suburb of the town whence came the author whose well-known self-portrait is to the left.
What I write: Right now, I’m writing narrative stories about me and my family and stuff. Hopefully funny. I’ve written fantasy, scifi, specfic, and just plain, ugly fiction. I hope to not stick around in any zone for too long, but we’ll see how that goes. Mostly, I just write tpyos. Typos. Dammit.
How I got into writing: I’ve been writing since I was a kid, but never really gave it a serious shot. Many bewildering stops on a convoluted career path later, I realized I didn’t want to do anything else but write. So, time for that serious shot.
What I do at TL;DR Press: I wrote a story for the inaugural issue, and have volunteered to edit future editions. I am also the de facto Head Theremin Tuner, and am planning a silent coup of the Complaints Department, where the real power lies.
When I’m not writing: My Day Job is product security for an open source software company. I like reading, hiking, games, singing really freaking loud, and tormenting my cats by playing sounds from my laptop, like kittens meowing or cans being opened. Trust me, they deserve it.
Social media: justpenfold on twitter, justpenfold.com is my site. I’ve staked claims on facebook, instagram, and youtube, but am not using them yet.
Buy my stuff: http://justpenfold.com/stories/. Links there to anything I’ve got online. Except for materials relating to the Diphthong-Trepanning Incident, which are available (with some redaction) via Freedom of Information Act triplicate request or Asking Really Nicely.
Lila Krishna (@lilastories)
Where I’m from: Grew up in India, and now live in San Francisco
What I write: I used to write comedy sketches. Now I write contemporary/literary short stories, the shorter the better. I like writing about the milk of human kindness, especially when it meets technology. I also find my writing touches a lot on being part of the Indian diaspora. I’ve been tired of a lot of the tropes about the Indian diaspora, especially the ones perpetrated by Indian diaspora writers themselves, and want to provide a fresh new perspective of how my Indian roots mesh with the rest of the world.
How I got into writing: I read a lot. All the protagonists in books I read were girls who were writers or wanted to be. So there was always this idea that I’m a writer. Somewhere down the line, I began writing and performing comedy. I wanted to pivot to being a screenwriter, but it felt like I hadn’t nailed down how to write fiction that had more than one idea in it. I switched to writing short stories which could be turned into movies… but writing short stories is so fun, I want to keep doing it forever!
What I do at TL;DR Press: I’m the webmaster on TL;DR Press. I’ve had a story ‘One in Six’ published in the first anthology. I proposed the women’s anthology, which I’ll be working on. I started the slack channel along with David. I host writeins, and started the weekly checkins for writers.
When I’m not writing: I work on artificial intelligence, and watch a fuckton of comedy.
Social media: @lilastories on Twitter and https://lilasfiction.wordpress.com/
Buy my stuff: Buy my short story!
Fun fact: I’ve been ignored by Peter Dinklage, Jack Black, and Aubrey Plaza. I’ve also made Henry Winkler chuckle politely.
